Here's another one!!!! This one is 12x24. I ventures away from the standard 11x14 and 16x20 rectangles, haha.

Romans 14:19 - Scripture Doodle

I wanted to do a quick, simple scripture doodle, and splattering paint sounded like fun. And so, I give you a quick, simple, paint splattered scripture doodle.

 I felt like adding a bit of shimmer and sparkle after i finished, so you might be able to see it a little in this picture.

Psalm 13:5-6 - Scripture Doodle

Well, here's another one! I've been wanting to do a music note themed scripture doodle for quite some time now but I had been having trouble finding a good verse that I wanted to do. Not too long ago I'd asked my Centrikid Camp friends what some of their favorite Bible verses were, hoping one would really jump out at me and I'd get an idea for a scripture doodle. There were 2 actually. The first was the Galations 12:20 one. And this was the other, Psalm 13: 5-6, plus I got to finally use a music note theme :). So it was a win-win.

Sorry the picture is a little crooked, I was trying to keep my shadow out of it, but it looks like it creeped in anyway, lol. See there on the left? Haha. Oh well.
And you can't see it in the picture, but I painted the edges of the canvas each one of the 4 colors of the words (pink, blue, purple, and green).

Scripture Doodle - Psalm 103:12

I've completed yet another #scripturedoodle. This on is Psalm 103:12 - As far as the east is from the west, so far has he removed our transgressions from us.
Here are some pictures at different angles for you. It has a grunge effect to it, and I'm not sure if you can see it in the pictures, but there is some glitter on the background.

Let Us Rejoice - Psalm 118:24

My grandmother saw some of my other Scripture Doodles and she liked them. So she asked me to paint her one for this big empty wall in the bathroom of the new house they just bought. This is my first custom made order Scripture Doodle. She wanted the verse Psalm 118:24, "This is the day the Lord has made, let us rejoice and be glad in it." And she wanted a landscape with a sun.
So I went online, did some googling found, found a landscape I liked, and went for it.
However, I think I will stay away from landscapes. I'm not very good at them.

I put some glitter paint over the sun and some shimmer paint in the river. Then I tried to add some wild flowers and cattails, but they look kind of crappy. Oh well, I think she'll like it anyway, I am her granddaughter after all ;), that has to count for something.

Owl Always Love My Family

My sister gave me a set of 9 4x4 canvas blocks. So I had a new split canvas challenge. This is what I came up with, I hope you like it :)  I've really been wanting to do a painting with owls, so when I thought of this, I got really excited!  (P.S. hanging instructions further down.)

This is it with spaces in between each block, which is how it will be hung. It's just sitting on the floor right now.

This is it all pushed together just so you can see the painting a little better in case the pictures makes it hard to see.

This shows how the edges of each block are painted a different color just to add to the whimsical look and feel of it. (Turquoise, dark purple, burnt red, saffron yellow, light green, burnt orange, light pink, light purple, aqua)

• I didn't want to have to hang 9 individual canvases. 1. because then i have 9 holes in my wall. 2. it would take forever to get them all lined up. and 3. if i ever wanted to move them somewhere else, i have try to rehang 9 different canvases and try to get them all lines up.
• SO, in order to avoid this, I used a strip of aluminum metal (not foil) and stabled it down the backs of each column. MAKE SURE EACH ROW IT SPACED EVENLY SO THEY WILL HANG LINED UP. 
• The reason I used aluminum is because I first tried ribbon, which mostly worked, but then when you try to hang it, the bottom one tilts out too much, and I didn't like how it looked. So I needed something stiffer. So my dad had some aluminum strips he used for trim on the outside of our house. It worked perfectly.
• Then we drilled holes in the top of the strips so we could hang them.

And here it is hung on the wall.

God Bless America - Scripture Doodles

I was feeling rather patriotic of late and so I decided to do some thing patriotic. I wanted to do a series of scripture doodles that were all related, and I thought that it would be cool to do some patriotic verses if I could find any. So I did some searching and I found 4 verses that I really really liked to go with my patriotic theme. I used 12x12 canvases and did a series of 4 patriotic scripture doodles. So here they are :)

Psalm 33:12 Blessed is the nation whose God is Lord, those whom He has chosen for His inheritance.

Ephesians 6:12 For our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities,against the world powers of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavens.

Joshua 1:8 This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night so that you may carefully observe everything written in it.

2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

Scripture Doodle - Galatians 2:20

Well, I cranked out another scripture doodle to share with you. While the last one took me a couple weeks to get done, this one only took me 2 days. I sat down the first day and painted the back ground and planned out all my letters and the picture and got it all read to paint. And then the second day I sat down and painted the verse and picture.
This one is different from my others. The others are more cutsey, or pretty, or scripty, or fancy, or whatever word you want to use. This one is more manly, kind of grunge or distressed looking. And it's way more simple, which is probably why I was able to do it so quickly.

Isaiah 40:31

I finally got another Scripture Doodle done. I've been working on it slowly for a few weeks now. I think it only took me actually 3 days to make it. But I only worked on it for an hour or so at a time, and with several days of not working on it in between. But anyway, it's done, and here it is.
It has a little more realistic approach than the others I've done, so it isn't very good, and a lot of my letters/words/lines are crooked, but I'm still happy with it. I don't think you can really see it in the picture, but the purple words are shiny and metallic.

Travel Map

I decided to track my travels. I've gotten to do a lot of sight seeing with my family around the country, and I've done a lot of camping. So I decided to buy a big wall map and pin all the places I've been.

What I used:
Bulletin Bord
Wall Map
Numbers Map Tacks/Pins
Tacky Glue (not Rubber cement, see why below)
Journal/Notebook
Google Maps

What I Did:
Had my dad cut down a big piece of cork board to fit my map. Glued my map to it using Tacky Glue. Bought some numbered map tacks online in 4 different colors to categorize my trips. Bought a journal to record what each numbered pin referenced. Each entry includes location, year, who I went with, what we did there.

 I mounted my board with screws to my wall, so I had to mount the board before I glued the map on, otherwise the map would have two big old screws going through it. No thanks!

Rubber Cement vs Tacky Glue (craft glue)
Some people say Rubber Cement works good, but it didn't work for me because:
1) It dries too fast to cover a large area with glue before sticking the map down.
2) Since it dries too fast, you can only glue a section at a time, and trying to hold up one half of the map with adding glue for the 2nd half was really difficult, and the Rubber Cement didn't seem to be strong enough to hold the map until it was 100% dry.
So Tacky craft Glue that comes in the gold bottles works best because:
1) It stays wet long enough to glue the whole thing first,
2) It doesn't dry too fast in cast you need to re-position,
3) The cork doesn't soak it all up
4) Its sticky enough that the map will stay in place until it's 100% dry.

 YAY!! Map is on the board!!

Time to start pinning!!! These are the pins I used. I have 4 colors.

Each color comes in sets of 25. So I got 1-25 in all 4 colors (Blue, Yellow, Orange Green), and I got 26-50 in Green because that category has more than 25 locations to pin.

Crayon Melt #3 - Yellow/Orange

Time for 3rd Crayon Melt!! The color scheme: Yellow/Orange!! I've done two crayon melts already, one was all Blue and the other was all Green. And now I've just finished my third one (because art work looks good in sets of 3)..

Also, since I needed a more solid back ground, I used a heat gun instead of a blow dryer. You just need to be extra careful with a heat gun because it could cause things to burst into flames if you hold too close and/or too still for too long. Also, if using a heat gun, point at crayons, and almost as soon as they start melting and running down the canvas, take the heat away or it will melt it too much.

Without further ado, here is my Yellow/Orange Crayon Melt canvas, and step by step pictures and instructions beneath it. :)

You'll need a canvas, crayons, hot glue gun, heat gun or hair dryer, and maybe a box cutter if you need to shorten your crayons any.

Line up your crayons in the order you want on your canvas to make sure you have enough. (if you end up taking the wrappers off, you'll end up with enough extra space for another crayon or 2)

I needed to take the wrappers off mine because 1) I used a heat gun and 2) i cut them a almost in half for a shorter crayon. 

You may find that some colors are more difficult to remove the wrappers from (orange comes off WAAY easier than yellow). Try soaking them in soapy water. Some will come off whole, and the more difficult ones will come off easier)

See how some came off whole? Kinda cool. I just kept them color coordinated so i could keep up with what each color was and put them back in the order i wanted. I took a picture of it before hand (1st pic) so i could remember.

Start Melting!!!!

Try tilting your canvas from side to side a little to help colors blend and mix together.

Melt to your hearts content, let cool and harden for a few minutes. I painted a silhouette on mine to match my Blue and Green ones.
